Can I claim a full medical check-up for tax in Malaysia?
Yes — but the check-up shares one small cap with self-test equipment and mental-health consultations, not the full medical relief.
This is the component people most often overestimate. A full medical examination, a self-testing medical device and a mental-health examination or consultation are treated as one combined allowance with a single small limit between them — so a check-up and a therapy session in the same year are competing for the same money. The overall medical relief is much larger, but this component cannot reach it.
The relief this falls under
Medical expenses (serious diseases, fertility, vaccination, dental, examination and mental health, learning-disability intervention) — up to RM10,000.00 for YA 2025
Within that, this specific claim is capped at RM1,000.00.

Work out what it is worth to you
Whether a claim helps depends on the rest of your year — what else you have already claimed against the same limit, and what tax you owe. The calculator works it out from your own figures, free and without an account.
