Can I claim dental treatment for tax in Malaysia?

Yes — dental examination and treatment is claimable, but it has its own much smaller cap inside the overall medical relief.

This is the part people get wrong. The medical relief looks generous because of its overall limit, but dental does not get to use all of it: dental carries a separate, far smaller cap of its own. Spend on the dentist and you are using up that smaller dental allowance, not the big number. Vaccination and the medical check-up component each work the same way, with their own caps inside the same umbrella.

The relief this falls under

Medical expenses (serious diseases, fertility, vaccination, dental, examination and mental health, learning-disability intervention)up to RM10,000.00 for YA 2025

Within that, this specific claim is capped at RM1,000.00.

Work out what it is worth to you

Whether a claim helps depends on the rest of your year — what else you have already claimed against the same limit, and what tax you owe. The calculator works it out from your own figures, free and without an account.
